The TalkReadPlay Children’s Book Challenge will provide new books to young children in Dodge and Jefferson Counties who need them most. TalkReadPlay Impact Partners will use the funds raised to purchase educator recommended, age-appropriate books for the children they serve. Our collaboration with the non-profit First Book guarantees 100% of donations stay in our community.

What is First Book?

First Book is a nonprofit social enterprise that has provided more than 170 million new books and educational resources to children in need, increasing access to materials for educators and program leaders, and helping to elevate educational opportunities for our children and teens in need. Which organizations will receive books?

Funds raised through the book challenge will go to our TalkReadPlay Impact Partners who serve economically challenged children in Dodge and Jefferson Counties. For a list of partners, visit Every Child Thrives.

 

What is the average cost of First Book books?

First Book partners with all national book publishers, who pass along deep discounts to First Book. The average cost per book is $2.50.

 

Do you accept new or used books?

Due to limited space and logistical challenges, we don't accept books at this time.

 

Is this a tax deductible donation?

Yes, when you donate you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Gifts in Honor or in Memory of an Individual

Make your gift even more special by recognizing a friend or loved one with your donation. You can give a gift in honor or memory. When you give in honor, we will send you a special certificate to give your loved one. This is the perfect gift giving idea for a birthday or the holidays.

 

Other Ways:

Make a donation to commemorate a special occasion, engage fellow book lovers, or mark a milestone.

 

Will donors be recognized?

Absolutely! Any donation $250 or over will be recognized in local papers, the Every Child Thrives Newsletter and the TalkReadPlay Facebook page.
